Trading as Edgewater Resort, the property is owned by Edgewater Resort Hotel Ltd, a private New Zealand company.The property was built in 1986 and to this day its ownership is vested amongst a number of shareholders, many of whom are South Island based. A four member Board of Directors, chaired by Christchurch based accountant Michael Soutar, provides governance for the business.
Edgewater Resort is managed by General Manager, Mr Leigh Stock and there are 70 staff and management located at the Resort.

The Resort is proud of its individual identity and reputation of providing memorable experiences for guests. In July 2008 Edgewater Resort became a member of the marketing group, Select Hotels and Resorts International. This membership is an adjunct to the established business and marketing activities of Edgewater Resort.
